Lenny Ann Barker's Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend Lynette “Lenny” Ann Barker passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 14, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lenny was born on February 1st 1958 in Billings, Montana to Elaine Dutson and Phillip Jerene Jensen. She spent her early years living between Logan, Utah and Billings, Montana. She graduated from Sky View High School in 1976. She attended Utah State University where she earned a teaching degree in Elementary Education. Lenny taught at Willard Elementary and Three Mile Creek Elementary for over 30 years, teaching 4th grade and then 2nd grade.
She married Tyler R. Barker on March 21, 1985 in Willard, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan temple on May 30th, 1986.
Lenny was a devoted member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. She found much peace in living the Gospel. She held many callings in the church including Primary, Relief Society, Ward Librarian, Primary Music leader, and in the Young Women’s. She served 5 years with her husband Tyler as part of the Youth In Custody Program. Lenny and her husband have been serving for 2 years in the Maple Springs Assisted Living Center branch.
Lenny spent her life singing, dancing, and spreading love everywhere she went. She loved music and you could always find her humming or singing a tune. She was born to be a mother. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She loved spoiling her grandchildren with her favorite books, dance parties, and a pantry full of treats.
Lenny had many talents and gifts that she loved to share with others. She won awards for her poetry and creative writing. She was a skilled florist and gardener. She filled her home with floral arrangements from her garden and often gifted arrangements to friends and family who would stop by. She was a spunky lady always surprising us with her witty jokes. She could take the stage to sing an impromptu song or lip sync without a second thought. She was equal parts bold and gentle. She was the matriarch of her family and was truly the beating heart of her family’s home. To know Lenny was to love Lenny.
She was preceded in death by her son Anthony, her parents Elaine Dutson and Phillip Jerene Jensen, in-laws Don and DeNece Barker, Sister Cheryl Goble, Brother-in-laws Bill Goble, Dave Boehme, Kent Molgard, Lynn Anderson, and Cordell Ferry.
She is survived by her husband Tyler Barker, son Dee J Barker, daughter Jenny Lynn Matyi (Josh Matyi), son Darren Tyrell Barker (Sophia), son Don Cordon Barker (Nicolette), and grandchildren Lizzy, Mikey, Raylee, Cora, and Iris.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 19, 2024 at 11:00am at the Hargis Hill Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; 80 North 100 West Willard, UT. In lieu of flowers, please donate children’s books to your local elementary school in honor of Lenny.
