Leonard Roger Johnson's Obituary
Leonard Roger Johnson passed away on July 5,2025 at the age of 79. He joins his parents Roy and Dorothy who raised him in Kensington Minnesota. He is survived by his brother Richard Johnson (Phyllis), his sister Linda Dahl (Dennis) and their large families in Minnesota. Leonard is father to Derek Johnson in Indianapolis and Michelle Anderson (Bret & Tyler) in Park City Utah.
Leonard married his college sweetheart, Bonnie Finstad and together, settled in Boulder Colorado in the early 70’s. In time, he launched his accounting firm Johnson, Cahill and O’Kelly and later Johnson, Kightlinger and over the next several decades, they provided services and guidance to the many businesses and individuals who have come and gone through Boulder leaving many lasting benefits to the community.
Leonard’s flamboyant style was accentuated by his love for 50’s pop culture and especially the CARS! A one-time president of the regional Cadillac club, Len’s collection of Cadillacs from the 30’s to the 60’s was his pride and joy. He continued to receive calls for advice on cars and Cadillacs until shortly before his death. He became a shareholder in Planet Bluegrass after experiencing Telluride while on a motorcycle trip to the Grand Canyon.
Nancy Porter and her son Spencer came into Leonard’s life following his divorce and with her, Len found a partner that was as game as he was for a rollicking good time. They stayed together for each other until Nancy succumbed to cancer last year.
To his dying days, Leonard was always quick with a smile and a compliment that would have you smile back.
