Leslie Darrell Allen's Obituary
Leslie Darrell Allen, adored husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away August 17, 2016. Les was born in Ogden, Utah on September 4, 1952 to John W. and Norma B. Allen. Les resided most of his life in the Ogden, Utah area.
Our loss is mighty and our sorrow deep. Sophie, the love of his life, showed unwavering love, courage, and support for her husband as they battled his cancer.
Always first to support his loved ones, Les’s compassion inspired everyone who knew him. His wit and drive led us through jagged wildlands few would travel, and his genuine love of the outdoors could make a campfire legendary. His quiet strength was the magnetic force that held us together. His life passions included playing guitar, hiking, camping, and he was a lifelong fly-fisherman, with an expert and graceful cast. His bright eyes and contagious smile revealed these true passions. His hard work and perfection made him a lead engineer at two baking plants.
Co-workers loved him dearly, as did friends. He made our world more beautiful with his tenderness and care.
Les is survived by his wife, Sophie, two sons, Jake and Joe (Brooke) and one daughter, Jennifer McCann (Tim), one sister, Margaret Carpenter and two brothers, Jack E. (Mary Ann), Ken (Cindy), his sister in law, Susie Allen and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his previous wife Christine, and one brother, Stephen C. and one granddaughter, Katherine.
We welcome all to share feelings and stories about Les at a memorial service at the Ogden Nature Center 966 West 12th Street Ogden, Utah on Monday August 22nd from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute
