Leslie "Steve" Clemons' Obituary
On March 18, 2011 Leslie (Steve) Neal Clemons passed away peacefully from age related causes while surrounded by his children. Dad was born July 2, 1929 in Thornton, Iowa to Leslie Lewis Clemons and Neva Imley, and was raised by his beloved step mother Gertrude Clemons. At the age of 18 he joined the Army Air Corps, served during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars, and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 after 20 years of service. He then worked at Hillfield AFB until his civil service retirement in 1989. He married Virginia Daylene Havens in 1949. They had 4 children: Allen (Mary) Clemons, Sierra Vista, AZ; Leslie Dale Clemons, Ogden; Michael (Paula) Clemons, Boulder Mt; Terri (Rick) Minnoch, Liberty; and Stephen (Tylyn) Mabry. Dad was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters, and on grandchild. He is survived by his children, 2 brothers and on sister(C. John Clemons, Larry Clemons, and Janet Bea Clemons), 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and his beloved pet Frostie. Steve was an avid reader and loved playing his guitar at family parties, and around the campfire. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and especially golfing. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by the Pine View Rehabilitation Center staff during Dad's illness. A celebration of Steve's life will be held in the near future. Interment of his ashes will be in the Mesquite City Cemetery, Mesquite, Nevada.
