Lewis Sears Livingston's Obituary
Lewis Sears Livingston, age 91, died on June 29, 2015, because he was “too old.” He was born to William R. and Afton S. Livingston on September 1, 1923, in Holladay, Utah. He married Lois Brown on August 3, 1945, in the Logan temple and they had 3 children. In 2001 Lewis suffered a stroke which took his powerful command of language. His beloved Lois died in 2006.
Lewis graduated from the University of Utah law school and worked at Salt Lake Abstract Company which became Western States Title Company. He skillfully handled real estate sales, boundary and easement disputes, and title insurance in northern Utah. He served as chairman of the real property section of the Utah State Bar, as a member of the Title Standards Committee, as president of the Utah Land Title Association, and as Title Insurance Examiner for the State of Utah.
Lew enjoyed playing tennis, first with his brothers and then with friends, neighbors, and anybody with a racket. His tennis-playing friends kept his court busy, and his tennis racket tie clip was his trademark.
Lewis was active in the LDS Church and served in his stake presidency, as president of the California Anaheim Mission 1978-81, as a bishop, and as a sealer in the Salt Lake Temple.
Lewis is survived by his children Kay (Milt) Larsen; Clyde (Marjean); and Marilyn (Lynn) Cooper; 7 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, sister Virginia, and brothers William, Grant, and Wallace.
Funeral services will be held on 12:00 Noon, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Olympus Hills Ward, 4176 Adonis Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be a visitation at the church prior to services from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
