Lila Lee Boehmer's Obituary
Lila Lee Boehmer, recently of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 84. Lila was surrounded by family and friends as she went to be with her Savior.
Lila was born in Chappell, Nebraska, to John and Hazel (Bales) Meyer. She lived in the Lodgepole and Potter areas and graduated from Potter High School in 1957. She married Marvin Boehmer on May 22, 1959. They lived in Sidney, Nebraska; Topeka, Kansas; Casper, Wyoming; Seminoe Dam, Wyoming; Estes Park, Colorado; and Guernsey, Wyoming; prior to Marvin’s death in 1999. After that she lived in Guernsey, Wyoming; Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Layton, Utah.
Lila enjoyed reading until the last few weeks of her life, including to the other residents at Chancellor Gardens. She taught hundreds of children in Sunday School and Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs, and led many to a personal relationship with Jesus. She played the piano at home and church. She actively participated in local churches and Bible studies throughout the years and helped found a Baptist General Conference congregation in Guernsey. Lila held a number of jobs outside of the home, culminating in her retirement from the Guernsey Community Federal Credit Union in 2003. But her favorite work was at home taking care of her family. She supported her own family, church/community families, and mission organizations where she saw a need. She enjoyed getting together with friends for bridge and Rummikub, travel, and visiting with family/friends over a cup of tea.
Thanks to all who visited her; sent flowers, gifts, and cards; and called to chat after she moved to Utah nearly five years ago. Thanks to Wasatch Senior Care for their excellent in-home care for Lila and her family in Utah. A special thanks to her friends and caregivers at Chancellor Gardens who supported and loved on her for the last three years.
Lila is survived by: siblings Carolyn (Charles) Carlson, Marian Tincher, Marvin Meyer, and Daryl Meyer; step-sibling Marjorie Meyer; sons Todd (Jennifer) Boehmer and Neal (Shari) Boehmer; son-in-law David (Pamela) Wilkens; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family who she loved.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Boehmer; daughter Laurie Wilkens; sisters Janet Meyer, Barbara Meyer, and Lois Maas; and brother-in-law Don Tincher.
