Lilly Jeanette McKay Scott
August 2,1929 - June 2, 2022
Lilly Scott died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Orem Utah June 2, 2022 ( age 92) She died surrounded by family who loved and cared for her. She was a beloved Mother and Grandmother.
Lilly was born in Detroit Michigan to George and Ada Mckay on August 2 1929. She is the wife to Charles Robert Scott (deceased 1984) and mother to eleven children. She was raised in Timmins, Ontario, Canada after her parents moved there from Detroit Michigan.
She is survived by ten of her eleven children, Charles Robert Scott Jr (Brenda), George K Scott (Violet Deceased), Janet Bird (Terrel), Bruce Scott (Cindy), Laura Imhoff (Greg), Margaret Roy (Rick), Christine Scott, Darlene Wilson (Steve),
Hunter Scott (Lori), Carol Scott, and Currie Scott (deceased 1968). She is also survived by her only sister Georgina Deadman ( Murray). Lilly has been blessed with 49 grandchildren, 115 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was loved admired and looked to for wisdom by all of her posterity. Timmins was her home and she loved living there and raising her family there.
Her Mom and Dad were a great influence in her and Charlie’s life. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . She served in leadership positions in the Primary, Relief Society, and Sunday School. She also served a full time mission in Arizona for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years after the passing of her beloved Charlie. She loved the temple and served for ten years in the Toronto temple as a full time ordinance worker. She served many with her baking and home cooked meals. Her children have fond memories of eating all their meals together. Her life revolved around teaching her children to work, serve, study, create beauty and love God. She was an avid reader having read all of the classics and two to three books a week. She created a home that was an oasis from the world for her children . Even her grandchildren found her home to be a place to find extra hugs and love from their Granny. For over twenty years she lived with her daughter Darlene Wilson (Steve) traveling with them as they lived in various parts of the country. She was with Darlene and Steve again for this last year of her life.
She was happy to have family to be with her constantly. Even when she lived in Timmins she had constant care from her children and grandchildren who live there. All of her girls sacrificed and spent significant time with her in Timmins during these last years. Her home and heart were always full with family . Her children witnessed her morning scripture study , prayers and journal writing on a daily basis.
She will be cremated and laid to rest with her handsome husband in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. A memorial service will be held in Timmins at a later date.
