The last time Linda participated in the LOTOJA she was part of a relay team. I had signed up to ride in the race but decided not to ride that year. Linda reached out to me a few days before the race and asked if I would come and ride with her to help pace her from Logan Utah to Preston Idaho. She was so kind when she asked that I could not turn her down and agreed to ride with her for the first leg of the relay.
The morning of the race we rode out of Logan about 7:30 am. The one thing that really sticks out in my mind was how friendly Linda was with all the riders around her. She was always encouraging others and cheering them on. In my mind I was thinking that we had a certain time she wanted to be in Preston and tried to encourage her to move along. Linda was more concerned about reaching out to others and enjoying the ride and the day.
I do remember kidding Linda that the nice thing about just riding to Preston Idaho and not all the way to Jackson Hole Wyoming was that once we finished our 35 mile leg we were done and didn’t need to worry about the next 170 miles.
We did reach Preston just a few minutes quicker than the goal Mike had set for us and Linda touched many hearts along the way.
Linda, thanks for asking me to ride with you that day.
