Linda B Nielson's Obituary
Linda B. Nielson
July 15, 1942 – October 30, 2025
Linda B. Nielson - Schmidt, lovingly known as Yiayia, passed away peacefully in her home on October 30, 2025, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with illness. She passed quietly at home and is now at rest.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 15, 1942, Linda lived a life full of compassion, dedication, and joy. She obtained a BS from Westminster College in 1976 and went on to earn her master’s degree in social work from the University of Utah in June of 1979. In 1988 she became Board Certified in Clinical Social Work.
Linda began her professional journey with Kennecott and later found her true calling in psychotherapy, where she devoted over 40 years to serving her patients and the community with empathy and wisdom. Her work touched countless lives, and her legacy of care will continue to resonate.
Her greatest joy came from being “Yiayia” to her two grandchildren, Ricci Anderson (26) and Isabella Anderson (22). She provided unwavering support to them through everything, and they will carry her memory forward with love and pride.
Linda also leaves behind her devoted husband, Len Schmidt; her children, Sam Schmidt and Sarah Schmidt; and her son-in-law, Ric Anderson.
Linda had a vibrant spirit and a love for life’s simple pleasures. A favorite quote of hers “more is never enough” - Miss Piggy and her home was always beautifully adorned for every season and holiday. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and especially loved Ballet West, the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, and the Utah Symphony.
Her style was impeccable. She had a gift for pulling together outfits and jewelry that reflected her warmth and personality. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the deep love she gave to her family and community. Her absence leaves a profound void, and she will be deeply missed.
A private family service will be held in her memory. Premier Funeral Home is handling her cremation.
