Loa Moss Stone Avery's Obituary
Loa Moss Stone Avery,
Born February 25th, 1934 to Earl and June Behunin Moss in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Donald Henry Stone in 1953 and later divorced. Loa met and married the love of her life Melvin Joseph Avery in 1983. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple in 2003. They were married 36 years until Joseph passed away in 2019.
She is survived by her five children Craig (Kathleen) Stone, Linda Stone Smith, Keith (Suzie) Stone, Brian (Celeste) Stone, Kevin (Danette) Stone and sister Velma (Kenneth) Kohler. She had 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by parents, brothers Fenton, Eldon, Lavon, Lyle Kelton Buzz Moss and sister Devona Moss Dowdle.
Loa worked for Burdette Apparel, Sorenson Research and Beehive Clothing. Loa and Joe also worked as crossing guards for the Salt Lake City Sheriff’s department for 20 years and really enjoyed helping the children.
Loa was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved to play the piano at Alta Ridge Assisted Living anytime she was asked. Loa and Joe spent time as House Parents at the LDS Brighton Girls camp, a position they loved. Loa’s camp name was Cinammon. Loa loved her family, yellow roses, the Utah Jazz, writing poems and playing the piano.
Loa passed peacefully away Sunday November 17th.
