Loren O'Deen Kay II's Obituary
Loren O’Deen Kay II passed away October 3, 2023, of a long hard battle with Lewey Body Dementia and Parkinson’s. His family endured many ups and downs from this disease but hung in there till the end. He was born on May 8, 1957, in Ogden Utah to the parents of Loren O’Deen and Bessie Nelson Kay. He graduated from Roy High school in 1975. He was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served a partial mission to Denver Colorado.
He met his future bride (Sherrie) in 1978 at Taco Time in Tremonton while building houses in the area. They were married for time and all eternity in the Ogden Utah Temple March 28, 1979.
Early in his life O’Deen worked alongside his father in his business (O Kay construction). His specialty was running the backhoe digging foundations for homes. He worked for a short time for George T. Smith, running the backhoe digging trenches. He was also employed for 18 years with Thiokol Corporation, where he worked on the booster motors for the space shuttle.
O’Deen had many hobbies, one of which was remodeling whatever needed to be remodeled. He loved working with wood, building furniture, toys, and even a go cart for his kids (no motor, just kid powered). He could take scraps and turn them into treasures. His pride and joy were his Dutch ovens. He picked up this cooking skill from his father-in-law Joseph Corbett. They cooked for family, friends, reunions, and other occasions. Instead of taking his vehicles to a mechanic for them to repair, he took the task upon himself while teaching his children how to do the repairs themselves, now many people are benefiting from these teachings.
O’Deen is survived by his wife Sherrie and their four children: Sherideen (Gordon) Wolfley, Adam (Bridget) Kay, Bradley (Britney) Kay, Christopher (Tami) Kay and 18 grandchildren. Also, his siblings Terry Brent (Sheila) Kay, Geraldeen (Carl) Jensen and David (Julie) Kay
He was preceded in death by his parents Loren and Bessie, his sister whom he adored Sherry Koren Kay, a step grandson Preston Beck and many grandparents, Uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in his honor on Wednesday October 18, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, located at 3845 S 2000 W Roy Utah. Friends and family may attend a viewing Tuesday October 17, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at the Cedar Crest ward meeting house 3845 S 2000 W Roy Utah and again prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
