I didn't remember that my Sister Dorothy Giles wore Lorna's wedding dress.
Lorna always wrote nice letters. I still have the first letter she wrote to me when I was baptized at 8 years old, the year she married. Mother saved it for me and I have it in a notebook.
Before she married I got a cut on my ankle by a broken bottle that shattered. She carried me two 1/2 blocks to Doctor Watts office in Payette. He was very busy that summer day. By the time I saw him my show was stuck to my foot with the dried blood. I had three stitches. Lorna w our eked at the cannery that summer. We had a picnic dinner and popsicles. I think I received an extra popsicle. She really spoiled me that day. I have lots of fond memories of my dear sister. She is 16 years older than I am.
She was the first of my siblings to visit Tom and I just a year after we married. We lived in property owned by the Presbyterian church in Rexburg Idaho, as their minister took a job in California. Tom's mother had joined the church and they thought of us as we were newly wed and in town. We cleaned their church every week and took care of the yard. We had a big house with a garage. The ministers office was a huge room over the garage. We had plenty of room for her children to be in one room. Glen and Lorna had a room of their own. We didn't know they were coming and they arrived about 11 p.m. I always loved being with Lorna and her children.
I remember going to Woodinville Washington to visit them in 1962. My brother Daniel W. Davidson had a new 4 door Thunderbird and let dad drive it to California, then up the coastal highway to Portland then Seattle area. Lorna and Glen lived on 29 or 35 acres of forest that they owned. It was a dirt road getting to the property. Bushes close to the road. Dad had us working most of the time we were there chopping gown the bushes so we would get scratches on Dan's new car. They had lots of animals. The goats liked sleeping on the hood of the car but they were small and didn't dent it.
Lorna was a very good cook. She was always cheerful and thinking of others her whole life. She has been a blessing to me.
