1942 - 2019
Surrounded by her family, Aarla Sherwood Sutherland, age 77, passed away peacefully
on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 in South Jordan, Utah.
Lorraine Aarla Sherwood was born on March 7, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She
was the daughter of Rufus Everett and Ella Roena (Tanner) Sherwood. Aarla is having a grand
reunion with two sisters, Elda Pearl and Pearl, as well as her parents and many loved ones that have gone on before.
She is survived by her sweet stepmother, Hazel Sherwood, and her loving children:
Connie (George) Denton, and Stephen (Tiffiney) Sutherland, as well as seven grandchildren:
Whitney Denton (Michael) Etherington, Kyle Denton, Cody (Jared) Denton, Chaz (Melissa)
Denton, Forrest (Carolyn) Sutherland, TJ (Kayla) Sutherland, and Bailee Sutherland. Great-
grandchildren will also miss their Grammy: Hazel Denton, Abbi and Ellie Etherington,
Beckham Sutherland and Baby Boy Sutherland, to be added to the team in January.
As one of the “Big 6,” Aarla’s smile and sense of humor will always be missed by her five
living siblings: Glen (Peggy), Jim (Erva), and Eldon (Maralyn) Sherwood, Lola (Bob) Litchfield, and
DonaMarie (Roger) Zollinger. Countless nieces and nephews are among those who have to say goodbye and will miss hugging their Aunt Aarla…..just for now.
Aarla attended Weber State College and retired from Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle
after 31 years of service in the Dietary Department.
Services to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1988 West 11400 South in South Jordan, Utah.
