Lottie LaPrele Ruf 1973-2023
On January 18th, 2023 our beloved angel-sister returned to her heavenly and earthly parents peacefully after a lifetime of debilitating health challenges. She was surrounded by loved ones.
Lottie LaPrele was born on July 30, 1973 to Wilford W. and JoAnn S. Ruf. Throughout her life she went by LaPrele (Preelie) She resided in Sandy, and Fountain Green Utah for long periods of her life with her mother and father. She attended Jordan Valley School for approximately 21 years.
Though difficult for her, we accept that the hand of God guided her life and her experiences. She was a beautiful daughter, the ninth of ten children. After challenging events, much fasting and prayer, heroic efforts by her family (especially her parents), our mother and father resigned themselves to God’s will that she would live a special life and require special care throughout. She never learned to speak verbally.
In June of 2021 both of her parents passed away within 2 weeks of each other. Through divine intervention, she was able to live with a remarkable couple; Frederick and Esperance, whom LaPrele grew to know and love like 2nd parents as they diligently cared for and loved her until the end of her life. Through exceptional care she defied all odds, living nearly 50 years in her vulnerable little body.
LaPrele is now free from the confinement, pain, and suffering of this earth life. She was a valiant and noble soul. It is our belief that she endured much as an instrument in God’s hands so that others could be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. Like Him, she forfeited her own desires to the will of the Father. We are all very grateful for her life, the lessons she taught us, and the privilege of knowing, serving, and loving her. We adore you LaPrele!!
LaPrele is survived by her siblings: Marianne Tawareguci of Draper, Daphne (Dirk) Baum of Springville, Caralee (Jim) Jewkes of St. George, Emalina (John) Vincent of Sandy, Rosalie Ruf of Bountiful, Elizabeth (Steve) Hathenbruck of Provo, Wilford M. Ruf of Salt Lake City, Adrian (Jill) Ruf of Bluffdale and Walter (Marci) Ruf of Chuluota, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, January 30, 2023 at 495 South Canyon Rd ~ Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:30 am prior to the funeral services.
