LuAnn Chesley's Obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, LuAnn Buttner Chesley was born on October 23, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Frank William Buttner and Aletha Ann Dewey Buttner. She passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Alpine Valley Care Center in Pleasant Grove, Utah at the age of 85.
LuAnn was the oldest of two children, both daughters, adopted by her parents. She grew up in Idaho and graduated from Jerome High School in 1955. She married Eldon L. Routt in Elko, Nevada on July 14, 1956. They had two sons, William and Terry. She later married Searle Ralph Daley, and they had two children, Scott and Shirley. She married James Melvin Chesley on August 20, 1974, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They had two sons, John and Russell. They later divorced. LuAnn remained a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
LuAnn loved country music, the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and Aggies football. She was very happy and content with the simple things in life.
LuAnn spent the majority of her years living in Idaho and raising her family as a single mother. She was employed at Ore Ida Foods in Burley, Idaho, and afterwards attended Utah State University. After attending Utah State University, she moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah where she resided for about 30 years until she passed away.
The family is very grateful for the untiring support and love given to LuAnn by the staff at the Alpine Valley Care Center over the past four years.
LuAnn is survived by her younger sister, Rae Nell Allen (Alex) of Orem, UT , son William Routt (Allison) of Orem, UT, son Terry Routt (Carol) of Provo, UT, son Scott Daley (Kendra) of Pleasant Grove, UT, daughter Shirley Baker (Hugh) of Midvale, UT, son John Chesely (Yoli) of Burley, ID, and Russell Chesley of Payson, UT, as well as 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family graveside service will be held.
