Lubomyr Hentish's Obituary
Cottonwood Heights — Lubomyr “Lou” Hentish, 79, died peacefully in his home on June 27, 2015.
He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Lucia (Werbowski) Hentish; his three sons, Lou Jr., Andrew (preceded in death), Roman and his wife Fawnna; his daughter Christine and her husband Paul Cramer; twelve grandchildren; his sister Daria and her husband Dan King; nieces and nephew; many cousins; and his (daughter’s) co-dependent silky terrier, “Chip.”
Lou was born on August 12, 1935 in Balyhorod, Ukraine to Peter and Anna Hentish. Their family came to America in 1949 and settled in Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Allen High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania and attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Lou later joined the Army in 1957 and became a Missile Defense operator. He met the love of his life, Lucia, at Soyuzivka, a Ukrainian resort in the Catskills Mountains of New York. They were married in 1963, in Allentown, PA. Together, they formed a Ukrainian folk dance group, the “Golden Ukraine Ensemble,” which consisted of 30 dancers and 5 musicians. The highly sought after group performed along the East Coast for 9 years. One of the highlights of those years was their performance for President Ronald Reagan’s inaugural celebration in 1980.
Lou was always entrepreneurially minded and early in his career he became a franchisee of “Success Motivation Institute.” Through the years, he pursued his passion to help people become more aware of nutrition and health which initiated a move to Southern California. He and Lucia later moved to Utah in 2004 to be near family where he started his shutters and blinds business, Super Service of Utah. Lucia worked alongside Lou until his passing.
Lou loved people and always assumed their best intentions. As a gentle, patient family man, he took pride in his children, nieces, nephew and grandchildren and taught them the value of hard work, resilience, dedication and family.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at New Creation Church on 8700 South Sandy Pkwy (450 West) in Sandy, Utah at 11:00am on Friday, July 3, 2015.
