G. LuWayne Cannon Nash Huff, our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 85.
LuWayne was born February 26, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Andrew Allen Cannon and Wilma Aleen English. Though she later made Utah her home, she remained proud of her Southern roots throughout her life.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and devotion to family. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she spent decades serving others, including 35 years in Primary. She was known as a peacemaker, a loving mother, a talented seamstress, an accomplished crafter, and a faithful friend. She lovingly made clothing, costumes, baby blankets, and countless handmade gifts for family and friends. Her joyful spirit, warm hugs, Southern charm, and unmistakable laughter brought happiness to all who knew her.
Family was always at the center of LuWayne's life. She faithfully attended the activities, performances, and milestones of her children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to gather with loved ones. Her greatest joy was found in serving, encouraging, and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Wilma Cannon; sisters Mary, Charlene, and Ida Marie; and husbands Fred Kenneth Nash and Robert Leon Huff.
She is survived by her sister Andrea (Rich); brother Hal (Leah); children Kenneth (Christine), Wayne, LaNae (Ron), Ilene (Nathan), Carl, and Brian (Jen); grandchildren Christopher (Ashley), Colby (Liz), Curtis (Emily), Casey (Bethany), Daniel (Ellen), Mindy, Karen, Dustin (Jona), Kimberly (Jordan), and Cannon (Hope); great-grandchildren Amelia, Clark, Eleanor, Archer, Conrad, Samuel, Michael, William, Travis, and Evan, with additional great-grandchildren on the way; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Her life was filled with faith, service, laughter, creativity, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will continue to bless her family for generations.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday June 6, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 5180 West 4700 South, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewings will be at the same location Friday 5, 2026 6pm to 8pm, and Saturday June 6, 2026 9am to 10:45am.
