Lydia Avalina Medina's Obituary
Lydia Avalina Medina was born on April 19, 1972, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who peacefully passed away in her home on June 13, 2026, at the age of 54.
As her children, we were blessed to share a lifetime of memories with Lydia. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her kindness, compassion, and unconditional love. She had a beautiful heart and a giving spirit. There was truly nothing she would not do to help someone in need. Her warmth, generosity, and caring nature made others feel loved, accepted, and never alone.
Lydia leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the family she cherished so deeply. She is survived by her children, Victoria Martinez, Benjamin Martinez, Anthony Jaramillo, Selena Miranda, and Jacob Sanchez; her loving mother, Evelyn Casillas; her siblings, Mercy Calata, Griselda Medina, Silencio Medina and Ruben Chacon; and her beloved grandchildren, Latayah, Isaiah, Arianna, Angelo, Harmony, Marco, Sariah, Rose, Bella, Aiden, and Luka.
Lydia was preceded in death by her father, Emanuel Medina; her beloved son, Mark Martinez; and her precious granddaughter, Olivia Sanchez. While we find comfort knowing they are reunited, our hearts ache from the loss of her presence here with us.
Lydia found joy in the simple things that made life special. She loved dancing to Norteñas music, listening to oldies, watching movies, and going out to eat with family and friends. No meal was complete without a generous sprinkle of garlic salt, something that always made us smile. Some of her happiest moments were spent fishing, exploring new places, and creating unforgettable adventures.
Family was everything to Lydia. One of her greatest lessons was always reminding us, "We are family, and we need to be there for one another." These were not just words she spoke—they were the values she lived by every day. She loved fiercely, cared endlessly, and welcomed everyone she loved with open arms and an open heart.
Lydia's life was not without challenges, but she faced every obstacle with strength, courage, and determination. She was a true warrior whose resilience inspired those around her. Through every hardship, she continued to move forward with grace and faith.
Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the gift of having known and loved her. We will forever cherish her laughter, her wisdom, her beautiful spirit, and the countless memories she gave us. While she may no longer walk beside us, her love remains in our hearts and will guide us always.
She closed her eyes one peaceful night and gently awakened in Heaven. Until we meet again, dear sister, you will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27
