Lynda Kay Daley's Obituary
On October 16, 2017 Lynda Daley-better known by loved ones as "Granny Fire"- "Aunt Fire" "Fire-Eater" finished her earthly life at the age of 76 with peace and joy in her heart.
Lynda was born March 27, 1941 to Lynn and Eileen Peterson Peck. She was the oldest of 7 children.
She married Val Johnson in 1959 and Moved to San Francisco. They were later divorced.
In the summer of 1966, she married Robert Daley and together they raised 6 children, Key, Cori, Heidi, Darrin, Marni and Russell.
Fire learned at a young age what it meant to walk through the fires of life and come out on the other side better for it. Nothing about her life was easy and there were many times that she could have given up, but that was not her. She opted into a life of joy. She made broken look beautiful and gained strength and wisdom through her pain. She overcame again and again throughout her life until she eventually became the "Fire." That fire taught her to love others as Christ does. No matter their circumstances, she always rooted for the underdog, the homeless, the addict and the broken. She will always be remembered for the fierce love she had for others. The strength and love that was forged in the flames of her life will live on through those that knew her.
With Bob, she created a home where family loved to gather. She was known for her stories, sleepovers, scary movies, whitest whites, and her incredible sense of humor. Her home was a place where those who knew her could go whenever life got too heavy. She had a way of making you drop your worries at the door and helping you see that everything would be okay. On any given night you could count on at least a few old friends that just had to stop by and see her while they were in town. She always kept a pot of coffee or sun brewed ice tea just for those moments. It was a place where everyone walked in the back door because they knew the front door was just there for looks.
Her happiness was measured by the hope she had in Jesus, and she chose to meet the problems of life with a smile. She always found a reason to laugh and taught her loved ones that laughter is proof of hope and that we can only laugh when things are tough.
Lynda is survived by her children and their spouses: Key & Cindy Daley, Vernon Cook, Darrin & Nicole Daley, Marni & Justin Headman and Russell & Anna Delaney.
23 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many more called her Grandma
