Twenty-nine years ago Dr. Barlow helped my pre-missionary son and me, his mother, rectify a mistake our new stake clerk made when submitting my son’s mission papers. The clerk had mistaking marked yes, instead of no, on the question “has he ever had tuberculosis?” Not only had it delayed the call, but it could have kept him from serving abroad—negating my personal revelation I had received regarding where my son would serve, the first time I held him in my arms. Though Dr. Barlow was not my son’s attending doctor, after checking my son’s records, he immediately sent a letter to the Church’s mission department which indicated the corrected health history! Not long after, my son got his mission call to a country with the circumstances told to me through inspiration, nineteen years earlier. I will always be grateful for Dr. Barlow’s help! He could’ve said, “you’ll have to come when Dr. so-n-so is back in the office,” but he didn’t. Reading his obituary, I see that he was even more impressive than I could have imagined!
RIP and Thank you Dr. Barlow.
