Lynn Elmer Gayler's Obituary
Lynn was born on 12/13/1939 to Elmer LaSalle Gayler and Rachel Joyce Gayler
(Roberts). He was the second oldest of 7 children and born and raised in
South Salt Lake, Utah. He graduated from Granite High school in 1958 and
later the University of Utah where he got a Bachelor's Degree in
Mathematics. He met his best friend and spouse, Gail Lynn Minnick, in
California where they were involved with kayaking and canoeing clubs. They
were married on 9/20/1968 and moved back to Utah, where they raised 4
children: Jeff, Mindy, Penny and April.
He enjoyed all sorts of activities including hunting, fishing, rock
climbing, snowmobiling, boating, hiking, horseback riding, Mountain Men
Rendezvous… just about anything you could think of under the sun. He raised
appaloosa horses and was also involved in an appaloosa club. He built a
career in programming, working for Jet Propulsion laboratories, Boeing and
later as a contractor for Hill Air force Base.
In his later years, He and Gail bought a cabin in Duchesne County, Ut where
they spent most weekends where he enjoyed watching movies, making sourdough
pancakes, and getting to go fish with his family and friends. He also
enjoyed gardening and was proud of his bountiful garlic harvest every year.
He was a fan of getting breakfast. He also owned an abundance of tents,
kayaks, chainsaws and tractors. Words will never be enough to describe how
incredible of a human being Lynn was, but he will be sorely missed by
everyone who had the opportunity to get to know him. He made friends with
just about anyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Lasalle Gayler, Rachel Joyce
Roberts, His sister Karen Raye Gayler, and his Daughter Mindy Gayler. He is
survived by his Siblings Wayne (Sue), Kim, Joyce, Art (Deanne), Laurel as
well as his Wife Gail, their children Jeff (Lori), April (Nick), Penny and
5 grandchildren.
There will be a small pot luck to remember him at Riverton Stake Center,
1855 W 13400 South, Riverton, UT in the pavilion around back from 11am to
1pm on July, 15th 2023. Please bring something small to share.
