M Carol Baxter's Obituary
Magdlene Caroline Baxter, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Seasons of Santaquin Assisted Living Home, where she and her husband Bill have lived for the last two years.
Carol was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1932 in Billings, Montana. She was such a loving and caring person, wife, and mother, so Valentine’s Day was a perfect day for her birth.
Carol was the daughter of Karl and Christina Wittkopp. She had two brothers, Benjamin (Benny) and Karl, who both passed away in their infancy and before she could meet them. She also had an older brother Frank and a younger sister (Johanna) Merie, who she both dearly loved.
At the end of WWII she met her future husband, William Theodore Baxter, at a Roller Skating Rink in Billings. He was recently returned from the Navy and was attending Rocky Mountain College and she was 17. It was women’s choice at the roller rink and she asked Bill to skate. This was the night their love story began. Six months later on December 18, 1949 they were married in the Pilgrim Congregational Church there in Billings.
They were blessed with 4 children: Dennis Earl Baxter, Raynae Ann Baxter (Redman), Larry Jay Baxter, and Dayna Lynn Baxter (Montoya). Their children have been the love of their lives.
Their enduring love story was blessed to celebrate a 75th anniversary this last December. Throughout their married life Bill and Carol were always together in everything they did, including many wonderful travel adventures in their motorhome. They drove it coast to coast across the US and spent many winters in Arizona staying in their motorhome. They thoroughly enjoyed those years. They were able to take a trip to Germany where she got to see her father’s birth home and farm. Travel and their family brought the greatest joy to both Carol and Bill.
Carol worked 22 years at the Courthouse in Billings in the Motor Vehicle Division. She loved her job because she always got to see her friends as they came in to license their vehicles.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Christina Wittkopp; 3 brothers, Benjamin (Benny), Karl, and Frank; and her sister (Johanna) Merie (Wittkopp) Diede Frank; also one grandson, Jason Michael Baxter, and one great great grandson, Robert Hugh.
Survivors include her 4 children, Dennis, Raynae, Larry, and Dayna; 11 grandkids, 25 great grandkids, and 8 great, great grandkids.
We love you mom.
