Grandma Madge was a proud, grand, beautiful lady. And she could purse her lips like no other. Her laugh and smile were infectious. I hope she is riding a beautiful horse on the beaches of Santa Barbara.
What I remember best about Madge is her amazing stories. She had some very interesting and unique experiences, especially around horses, training and racing them. During her life she met hundreds of fascinating people in interesting places and situations, and she had a very good memory for those long-ago events. She was very intelligent, a genuine original! Rest in peace, Madge. You are very lucky to have three amazing daughters. May they have peace as well.
To Debbie, Vicki and Christy,
Years ago, when I worked in the Ogden City Mayor's Office, Madge volunteered to come in to organize and archive our records. She did an amazing job of it too. I had been friends with Christy for a long time but hand only met Madge once or twice. Madge and I became friends during that time.
When I started working in SLC and Madge lived there for awhile, I would pick her up for lunch sometimes. She told LOTS of stories about all the people she knew - and it seemed like she knew everyone. She also talked a lot about you ladies and her grand kids. She was very proud of how well you were all doing and of the type of people you were - smart and kind. I never had to talk much, because she did all the talking!
When she moved back to Ogden we lost touch. I was always so impressed with how well you all took care of her, despite how challenging that could be at times. She was a very fortunate woman to have such loving daughters. Maybe that's a testament to the kind of mother she was, I don't know. It's certainly a testament to the kind of women you are.
I'm glad to have known Madge and I'm glad she's at peace.
Love,
Robyn
