Mahlon Robert Kohler's Obituary
Mahlon Robert Kohler (Bob) 89 a long time resident of Clearfield, Utah, passed away May 18, 2018 after a brief illness. Born August 22, 1929, in Providence, Utah to Alfred and Bertha Kohler. Bob was the third youngest of 12 children.
Bob, our dad and grandfather developed a work ethic at an early age that remained with him throughout his life. His work ethic has been passed on to his children and his grandchildren. He was 14 years old when he had the responsibility of running the family farm. During his childhood, he described fun and memorable times as sitting with his family around the radio and listening to the boxing matches while eating apples, making honey candy and drinking home made root beer.
Bob married Rhea Nickel, September 17, 1950. He described Rhea as a “fun companion and wife and above all a very special lady to me.”
Bob was a person who looked and found only the best in others and was accepting of everyone. He lived a life of service to his family, neighbors, and friends as he had a talent for fixing any and everything. His favorite past time was giving $2.00 bills to grandkids and neighborhood children.
He worked in the HVAC business for most of his career. He retired from the Weber County School District where he received Employee of the Year and was recognized by the Utah Legislature. He then went to work for his sons at North Star Heating and Air Conditioning. He loved working with his sons.
He is survived by 4 children: Sherry Stettler (Gary), Keary Kohler (Debbie, Deb Nabor (Steve), Vaun Kohler (Amy), 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, and one sister (Donnette Mecham).
