Margaret Ann Allred's Obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret (Marge) Ann Allred of Payson, Utah passed way peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, November 24, 2024.
She was a New Year’s Baby, born January 01, 1939 to Herman and Mabel Skillman in Los Angeles, California. She was the youngest of 5 children. She would make her way living between California and Kearney, Nebraska before staying in California, and graduating high school there.
Marge had two daughters, Jennifer and Lisa, by her first husband Tom Davis. Later, she would be introduced to the love of her life, Byron “Stub” Allred, by her best friend Carolyn. Carolyn had married Stub’s brother, Brent Allred.
Stub had two daughters from his first marriage, Pauline and Rebecca. Stub and Marge decide to get married and blend their families into one. They were married on June 3rd 1966, and then sealed for time and all eternity one year, and one day later in the California Los Angeles LDS Temple. In 1970 they would welcome their only child together, the first boy to the family, David.
The family complete, they would move from Bishop, California to Burbank, then onto Lucerne Valley. It was there when their son was 8 years old, that Stub and Marge decided that David needed a brother. They participated in the LDS church’s Lamanite foster program. They welcomed Roland Ben to their family during the school year, from the Navajo reservation. A couple years later, they fostered another son, Ronnie Whitehat. Those three boys became closer than biological brothers, even until now.
Later, Stub and Marge would move to Goleta, California and become emergency shelter care workers for the county of Santa Barbara. In those 5 years they would have over 500 kids through their home. They have always produced a safe and loving home for any in their care.
Marge is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Byron, and her son-in-law Adrian Gallardo (Pauline), and her step-daughter Rebecca. She is survived by daughters Pauline, Jennifer (Derrick ), Lisa (Benny), sons David (Kimberly), Roland (Olivia), and Ronnie (Rose).
Marge has 21 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Her influence has gone far and wide with all the children she’s cared for, fulfilling her patriarchal blessing that states she would be a mother to many and that they would come to her in their sorrows.
For the last 25 years, Marge has made Payson, Utah her home. She loved her family fiercely, and had a great testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
We love you forever, mom. We’re grateful that you can be together with dad again. Until we meet again, we’ll see you in the valley!
A memorial service will be held for Marge, on Saturday, December 07, at 1pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
789 Arrowhead Trail, Payson, UT 84651.
