Margaret “Peggy” Anna Crandall Childress
1929 – 2016
Margaret (Peggy) Anna Crandall Childress, 86, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016.
Peggy was born September 23, 1929 in Springville, Utah to Edward and Helen Crandall. On December 22nd 1951 she married Samuel (Jack) Childress. On January 26th 1963 Peggy and Jack along with their two children, Sue Anne and Kevin, were sealed as a family in the Manti Temple.
To Peggy, family meant everything. She took great joy in preparing Sunday meals for her children and grandchildren. She would prepare for weeks for the holidays making sure that these holidays were joyous and festive occasions.
Peggy liked to read, cook, sew and quilt. It was quilting that became a passion in her life. She became so proficient that she received numerous accolades and awards for her quilting. The most precious gifts possessed by her children and grandchildren are the quilts that were made by their beloved Mother and Grandmother.
Peggy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in her ward including Relief Society President and Young Women’s President. She served a mission at the Missionary Training Center, tutoring missionaries in reading, and a second Mission with her husband at the LDS Employment Center.
She loved teaching and was a volunteer tutor for many years at Scera Park Elementary School.
Peggy is survived by her husband Jack, her brother Richard Crandall (Dorthy) as well as her children Sue Anne Frost (Harold) and Kevin Childress(Toni). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Jessica Frost Chappell, Peter Frost, Katelyn Frost Oldham, Emily Childress Johnson, Courtney Childress, and Samuel Childress as well as 5 great grandchildren and one on the way.
The funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 26th 2016 at the Edgemont 4th Ward located at 4056 North Timpview Drive in Provo, UT where a viewing will be held Friday, March 25th from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 9:45-10:45.
