Margaret Mary Pelton's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Mary "Peggy" Pelton, formerly Hayes, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 after a long illness, comforted by her loving family. She was 78. Peggy was born April 11, 1932 to Dennis and Hazel (Stevens) O'Rourke in Somerville, Massachusetts. She was one of 13 children, raised in the Pearl Street home where they were born. Peggy is survived by four children, Susan Silva of Salem MA, Sandi Romero of Midvale UT, Peggie Hayes of Watertown MA, and Donald Pelton of Salt Lake City UT. She was a devoted "Nana" to eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Peggy treasured her family, her faith, and her gift to serve others. For over 20 years, she was the primary caregiver to her disabled sister Helen, who succumbed to breast cancer in 1981. In the late seventies, she had become a Certified Home Health Aide, and worked for many years providing home care to elderly clients, both in the Boston and Salt Lake City area. When her age and health forced her to stop working, she continued to volunteer and visit with elderly and disabled people and provide emotional support to them. She remained lifelong friends with some of those she served in their time of need. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 8575 South 700 East, Sandy UT.
