Margie Louise Breitling Stanley's Obituary
Margie Louise Breitling Stanley, 88, passed away from congestive heart and kidney failure, Sunday, August 20, 2023. Margie passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family.
Margie was born, April 28, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wilhelm and Edna Liechty Breitling. Margie was a proud graduate of Granite High School, Class of 1953.
Margie worked in a variety of jobs. In 1951, at the age of 16, she worked at the American Motel located on 3800 South and State as a maid. She soon became the painter who refurbished the rooms. After graduating from high school, Margie worked for the Murray Telephone Company. Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Bean was her next job as a stock board marker.
On December 10, 1954, Margie married Terry LaVaughn Stanley in the Salt Lake Temple. While Terry served an 18-month tour in Japan for the Air Force, Margie stayed in Salt Lake City and worked for Paramount Pictures as a PBX operator. Later Margie worked at Electrolux Vacuums. In 1956, Terry and Margie moved to Texas where Margie got a job working for a podiatrist as a receptionist and medical assistant. When her last 2 children were teenagers, she began working in Jordan High and Union Middle School’s kitchens. She found her life’s calling working as a Special Needs assistant at Union Middle School where she lovingly assisted severely challenged students.
Margie and Terry were the parents of 3 children. Margie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Margie was the caregiver for her husband, Terry, in his last 20 years of life.
Margie loved her Heavenly Father. She demonstrated that by serving her fellow men with all her heart. The list would be many if her callings were listed, from Relief Society President to teacher. May we just say that her very favorite calling was that of being a ministering sister to all.
Margie is survived by her three children, Tina (Ray) Nilsson, Vaughn (Debra) Stanley, and Melindalee (Mark) Stevens, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Edna Breitling; her brothers, Harold and Robert Breitling; her sister, Gertrude Breitling Law, Marilyn Breitling Brown, Lorna Breitling Malmborg, Julia Breitling Walters and her husband, Terry LaVaughn Stanley.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, at the LDS chapel located at 586 East 8400 South, Sandy. Public viewing from 9:30-10:30 am. Funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at the South Jordan Cemetery, 10630 South 1055 West, South Jordan.
