Maria Del Carmen Guangorena's Obituary
Maria Del Carmen Guangorena
To us she was lovingly called: Mom, Momma and Grandma.
Mom fought a long battle with cancer and went home to be with Jesus on April 8, 2019. She
was a strong, silent, and humble woman who taught us what it was to work hard for what you want, to give without measure, to love without expecting anything in return, and to believe the best in everyone. Mom loved genealogy, flowers, sunsets and painting. Mom never did anything in a traditional manner.
Below are a few words from her Grandchildren. If you knew mom, you know these kids were the love of her life.
One of my fondest, and oldest, memories of my grandma is when she would take my siblings and I to some sort of equestrian center to go horseback riding. We would spend hours there riding ponies and just walking around looking at all the beautiful horses. She also brought pony rides to my second birthday party. Although I cannot remember that day, I just know I was most likely having the time of my life. I have always loved animals and my grandma helped fuel my desire to be around them. She didn’t know it then, but I hope she knows now how much she impacted my career path towards working with animals. Every time I see a horse, I will now think of her; a spirit full of life and beauty.

Maria Del Carmen Guangorena is and forever will be the strongest person in my life. No amount of words can describe how much respect and love I have for my grandmother. I will never forget the tea parties we had, playing dress up, making breakfast, the princess room, and the many adventures we had together. She has given me many life lessons and memories I will forever hold dear to my heart. And her teachings will live on through me, forever.

My grandma was and will always be the strongest person in my life. She took everything life
handed her and made the best of the situation. Being her granddaughter is a blessing and I'll always be grateful for everything she taught me and all the memories I have with her. From going to the library pretty much every day during the summer when I was little to driving to Laguna Beach and going to an art festival with her when I was older. All the time I was able to spend with her was a gift and it was one of the best gifts I've ever received. I can't wait for the day I get to see her again in Heaven but, until that day comes I will live each day to make her proud. I love you Grandma. Thank you for being a light in my life.

My grandma is the strongest person I've ever known. I will forever cherish the memories I share with her like going to the library, the park, making a dollhouse with her, playing dress-up in the princess room, and watching Madeline. I look up to her because of how strong and optimistic she is. I will forever cherish all the time I was able to spend with her and will never forget them and I will never forget her. I love you grandma.

My Grandmother was the most genuine woman you'd ever meet. She always put others before herself and told me "you never know what other people are going through.” I remember sitting with her at such a young age while she got her first round of chemo treatments. We would watch renovation shows and TLC's "What not to wear". We would laugh and question peoples outfits (all in good manner). She taught me so many things in life that I hope to one day pass on. For instance, we were doing a project together for school that was due the next day and I kept getting frustrated that I wasn’t creative enough or I did have any art talent. As a 5th grader on the verge of tears she took my hand and said "Mija, everyone is creative and artistic in their own way. You just have to find yours." I'm proud to say "Grandma I found it, took me awhile but I got it." I wish we could spend another day together all as a family, but I know that you are free from the pain and sorrows of this world. Dance and paint with the Angels Grandma. I'll see you soon.

Grandma,
There are so many things that I could say about you. You’re the most incredible Grandma. I will never be able to fully put into words how much you mean to me, but I can go on for the rest of my life trying. I admire you to no end. You are the strongest and kindest person I know. That strength inspires me on a daily basis. It will be difficult that you won’t be there to see me grow up but rest assured I will make you proud. You will always be with me. Love you Grandma!
