Marian "Jackie" Iona Barney's Obituary
Jackie Barney, as she was known by family, friends and neighbors.
Marian Iona Bock Story Barney, 85, passed away October 28, 2019, surrounded by family. Jackie was born August 24, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William E. Bock, who immigrated from Germany, and Iona L. Hansen Bock. She was raised by her mother and Paul Whatcott. She was later known as Jackie Bock with her saggy socks. She was raised and schooled in Salt Lake City, Utah. Other cities were she moved to, were Pleasant Grove, Orem and then finally settling in Lake shore.
She married Dean William Story on May 11, 1951. They had one child Rick Story, born on November 11, 1951. Dean later died November 16, 1963. Jackie then married Lynn A. Barney on October 31, 1964. They had one child Caryn Barney born on June 9, 1965. Jackie also helped raise Lynn's five other children. Lynn Barney died June 1, 2015. Jackie never remarried.
Jackie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was married and sealed in the Temple. She enjoyed her Relief Society visiting teachers who would come to visit her every month.
Jackie loved to bowl, she won many awards in the City, State, and National Tournaments. She loved to travel with her husbands. She had a tremendous right arm and could throw a can of creamed corn accurately down a flight of stairs. But her biggest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jackie was also fascinated and loved her hummingbirds, and cared for them every summer when they would come to her home to feast on the many bird feeders. Even when when they traveled in their motorhome, she would faithfully bring her bird feeders along for them. Jackie also loved beautiful flowers, and especially her rose gardens. Her love of WWE was relentless, and her favorite wrestler was John Cena. She had loved this sport for years, and would watch the matches every Monday and Tuesday evening. Jackie also loved to watch baseball, keep score and would banter loudly with the umpires, until she would be then be ejected from the game. She was fierce and loving, but usually didn't like the umpires calls.
Jackie was a breast cancer survivor of which she was very proud of.
Jackie was proceeded in death by her parents, two husbands, her two loving brothers, Junior and George Bock and one son in law, Chad Gillman.
She is also survived by her two children, Rick Story (Kris) and Caryn Barney (Ray, Fiancé). Also survived are her six grandchildren, Ericka Story (Jim), Jewel Story, Colby Story (Kaylene Meranda), Mandy Story Peck (Doug), Brookelyn Gillman (Brian Courtney), Cameron Gillman (Meckenzie), and five great grandchildren, Alix, Emil, Hunter, Leia, Aspen and another on the way.

Graveside services to be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.
