Marian Nannette McLain Watt
Marian Watt, age 80, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Marian was born to Francis and Warren McLain and grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She attended BYU Provo where she met and married David Watt, the love of her life. Together with her husband, she raised a family of three, traveled throughout the US and world (including Australia and S Korea), and led an active life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving in three Family History missions.
Marian loved spending time with her husband, children and all her relatives. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and filled her home with love, fun, music, art and games, as well as many learning opportunities. She was an advocate for education and set an example for her children by completing her degree in anthropology at BYU Provo, enrolling in art courses at UT Austin and taking advantage of other learning opportunities throughout her life.
Marian was an excellent dancer, an accomplished artist, an avid genealogist, a musician, a dog/ cat/ parrot/ guinea pig/ fish/ mouse/ turtle lover, a business owner and a caregiver to many. She traveled frequently to visit family, to see nature, and to experience different countries and cultures.
Her family grieves her loss but takes comfort that she is now freed from her illness and that she has found joy in reuniting with her husband and family.
Marian is survived by her children, Daniel, Pamela, Douglas, and their spouses, Guadalupe, David, Gretchen; by eight grandchildren (Nannette, Katie, Kelsey, Alex, Cindy, Bryan, Michelle, Donovan); four great-grandchildren (Adelyn, Everett, Treven, Landon); her brother- and sister-in-law (Jerry, Sue), many wonderful nieces/ nephews and other beloved family members.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 11251 South 2700 West, South Jordan, UT 84095. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services with burial to follow at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
