Marie Holter Rawlings' Obituary
Marie H. Rawlings, 81, of Sandy, Utah, passed away on March 18, 2026 at Alta Ridge Memory Care.
Born March 2, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Louise and Henry Holter. Marie graduated from Hillcrest High School and went on to attend LDS Business College. She married Vance D. Rawlings on December 6, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 3 children, Robert (Elizabeth), Valarie, and Ryan.
Mom was known for being willing to help anyone in need regardless of what she had going on. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, cooking, baking and canning. She and Vance enjoyed creating stained glass for a number of years. She took pride in decorating her home.
Mom was slowly taken from us due to the effects of dementia. It is an insidious disease that slowly robs a person of their memories, joys in life, dignity and eventually their life. We wish to thank the doctors who cared for her, the Sandy Fire Department who responded often during the last months of her life to assist with falls in the home. Valarie had been her primary care giver but in her weakened condition was not able to always assist her.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Elizabeth) and Ryan as well as 2 grandchildren, as well as her brothers Blaine and Delbert. She was preceded in death by her parents Louise and Henry, her daughter Valarie and brothers, Gordon, James and Ray.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held Friday April 3, 2026 at the LDS Church located at 275 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to Alzheimer's Research Foundation https://alzfdn.org in Marie's memory.
