Marilyn Simpson Bartlett's Obituary
It is with both comfort and sadness that we inform you, that Marilyn Simpson Bartlett, 67, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully, from natural causes related to dementia on November 5, 2017 around 5:30 PM.
Born September 14, 1950, in Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada, she was the daughter of Lola Marcelle Denton and Woodrow Wilson Simpson. She spent most of her adult life as a servant of the communities that she lived in as a police and fire dispatcher. She took pride in her work, and despite how difficult it could be at times, she loved knowing that she was helping make a difference in the lives she touched.
Beyond that, she took absolute pride in loving and caring for her family, often putting family above anything else. Those that were close to her, knew her for her passion (stubbornness) and compassion. She was always willing to lend the proverbial helping hand, and taught her children that caring for those around you, is paramount.
Marilyn lived her life for her family, a family that she loved very much, and would go to the ends of the earth to protect if she could. A family that can take comfort knowing that she is finally at peace, under the protection of her Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and love of her life, Larry Joe Bartlett in 2009. Sunday evening, she was finally able to see his face again, and be in his embrace, for all eternity. She is survived by her two daughters, Amber Bartlett-Loveridge and Noel Rodriguez, and her two sons, Colton Bartlett and Woodrow Bartlett. She also leaves behind two brothers, many nieces and nephews, and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church (4825 W 7000 S, West Jordan, Utah), and she will be laid to rest in the Elysian Gardens cemetery (1075 E 4580 S, Murray, Utah) right after. There will be a viewing from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM prior to the services, at the same LDS Church building.
In lieu of flowers, the family feels that Marilyn would prefer a donation be made to the Dementia Society of America, to help families and those affected by this illness in the future.
