Marion "Mick" Karl Johnson's Obituary
Marion “Mick” Karl Johnson passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born to Oliver Karl Johnson and Dessa Maria Black Johnson on May 12, 1938, in Payson, UT.
He was a lifelong resident of Lindon, UT where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1956, he was Viking till he died! He graduated from Snow College with an associate degree in 1958 and then served an LDS Mission to the West Central States from 1958 – 1960. He married Maureen Madsen on September 23, 1960, in the Manti LDS Temple, they had just celebrated their 63rd year together. They were blessed with six children and seven grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the gospel. He served in many callings throughout his life including Bishop, Counselor in the Bishopric, High Counsel, High Priest Group Leader, Scouts, Young Men’s, Sunday School, and Building PM.
He loved driving truck, and followed in his father’s footsteps, leasing his trucking company, MK Johnson Trucking to Cream O’ Weber Dairy, Deans Foods, and later going out on his own.
Later in life he and his wife had the privilege of serving an LDS mission together in the Missouri Independence mission.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Johnson, five children, Brent (Lynn) Johnson, Tamara (David) Rencher, Cheree Johnson, Kim Covington, Megan (Jaron) Stout and seven grandchildren; Justin, Brandon, Halley, Sariah, McKay, Kierra and Kalle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Connie Bahr and Sally Gray, his son Craig Victor Johnson, and son-in-law Kay H Covington.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Lindon West Stake LDS Church, 250 W 600 South Orem, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30 am to 10:45 am the morning of the funeral. Alternatively, turn onto 1030 West from 1600 North. It is the church building at that corner. The address doesn't always work in "maps" apps.
