Marion Udell 'Tex" Pockrus' Obituary
MARION “TEX” UDELL POCKRUS, born in Lawton, Oklahoma, October 25, 1931, peacefully left his earthly home on October 5, 2012. He was greeted on the other side by his father James Osceola Pockrus, his mother Marietta Rule, his son, Barry A. Pockrus, and eight brothers and sisters. Survived by his wife of 58 years Helene (vonMetnitz), sons Carl (Phyllis), Randall (Diane), daughter Lauretta (Lee Erwin), his sister Geraldine Ramona Donaldson, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended schools in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Texas and colleges in Santa Rosa and Marin County, CA. Lived in Montana, California and Utah. Highland, Utah was home for the last 16 years. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Tex was employed by Western Union and ran his own business in San Francisco. Tex loved his country and his volunteer work with Disabled American Veterans of Utah as Chapter 6 Commander, State Commander and DAV Honor Guard. He served as an LDS Missionary & consultant at BYU Harold B. Lee Library for 12 years and worked at VA Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Highland 10th Ward, 10962 N. 6400 W, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening, October 14, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the church and Monday morning from 9:45-10:45. Interment at the Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale. Military honors provided by DAV Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland 10th Ward Missionary Fund.
