Mark Stephen Balzotti, age 74, passed away at his home in Springville, Utah, on April 23rd 2024, just 24 days after being diagnosed with cancer. With many of his family members surrounding him, as his daughter-in-law Marie read a Read Obituary
Debbie. Mark was a visionary. Mark and I did some amazing things together as we pioneered ways universities and public schools can work together, and this was due in large measure to him being so adept at seeing the big picture. I am so grateful for the time we spent together including our trip to Mexico when we took students to work in a Mexican school. May Our Heavenly Father bless with peace knowing he blessed the lives of so many people. Damon Bahr
Mark was an amazing educator. We worked together at Grant Elementary and Cherry Creek Elementary. Mark worked tirelessly for his schools. Always learning and implementing only what he felt was right. He cared about his teachers. He believed in his teachers and staff. He supported them the best he knew how. We spent many an hour discussing how best to educate the children. His love of education was evident in all his desires to do the best for his students.
Mark was kind and caring. His love of Debbie was shared with those of us who knew him well. He wanted only the best for her. She was the love of his life.
Mark will be missed by all. Our prayers are with Debbie and family. We pray for your comfort and peace. May you always know of Mark's love for you.
He was a fantastic Principal to us kids at Grant Elementary. Thank you for all the love and kindness you shared through the years.

Mr. Balzotti was so kind to me as a new CFA for BYU. I still remember how friendly and kind he was when I walked into Grant Elementary to supervise student teachers. He took time for this "wet behind the ears" supervisor and really saw who I was. He will forever be remembered as one of the helpers in my life! Dorie Haws

I so appreciate his hiring me as Title 1 Technician (1996) then later Special Ed teacher (1998). I worked under his leadership until he retired in 2012. I will forever be grateful for his encouragement and faith in me.
It was evident the student’s needs were his priority as principal.

Sorry Debbie for your loss, I always enjoyed my association and conversations with Mark. I know he will be missed, I'm sure it will be a great reunion on the other side. Best wishes, Craig Harvey
I am deeply saddened by Mark's passing. We served together in the Florence, Italy Branch in late 1971–early 1972, Mark was branch president and I was district leader. The young branch members loved talent nights (serate dei talenti). Mark and I shared two things: Italian heritage and love of music (guitar) and I'm including a photo of us at one of those evenings so many years ago in Florence. Mark was a great missionary and great example to me. In 1985, I called Mark to be my counselor in the MTC branch presidency for missionaries going to Italy. When I was released, he took my place as president. He had a huge impact on the elders and sisters. While I was directing a study program in Italy in 2017, we were able to meet for lunch in Rome. Mark and Debbie were a Power Couple, the Dynamic Duo.
