Mark Hallows' Obituary
Mark Brice Hallows was born July 22, 1954 in Salina, UT. When Mark was five years old his family settled in Bountiful. His family spent time camping together and often visited relatives in Sevier County. Mark had fond memories of spending holidays there. He spent two summers working hard on family farms. He also worked as a teenager and young adult building houses and furniture. He had a love of mechanical things and bought his first motorcycle at age 15. He loved working on his motorcycles and cars. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oakland, California. After his return, he went to Brigham Young University where he studied Manufacturing Engineering, graduating with High Honors. He also met and married Ann Davis. Together, they had seven children--five daughters and two sons. His first job with Sperry Flight Systems took them to Arizona where they lived for three years. In 1984, the family moved back to Utah and soon bought the house he lived in for the rest of his life. He spent a lot of time and effort working on the house. Mark loved having adventures and being outdoors, so the family spent a lot of time camping, hiking, fishing, backpacking, cutting Christmas trees, and more. Mark also shared his love of athleticism with his children, encouraging them in soccer, running, mountain biking, skiing, basketball, and football. He was happy to share his love of motorcycling and dirt biking with his boys! Mark became an avid cyclist and loved to be up in City Creek Canyon on his bike. Mark never had musical training but loved listening to music and sharing his favorite songs and bands with his children. Mark was always a hard worker, for IOMEGA as a project manager for 20 years, and other companies later in life, ending with his retirement from Autoliv in 2020. He was an example of hard work to his siblings and his children, and even helped his children start and maintain a lawn care business that lasted many years. Mark had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he and Ann served in many callings in the Church. He was married to Ann for 45 years. He died April 21, 2023 from complications of dementia and kidney failure. His children would like to thank Dr. David Cope, as well as the other medical professionals that helped with his care, especially the last few months of his life. They would also like to thank Mark’s family, friends, and neighbors who helped and looked out for Mark. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Magleby. He is survived by Ann and his seven children: Becky (Jake), Kim (Gerron), Jenny (David), Heidi (Bo), Melissa (Mark), Chris (Abby), Zach (Roxy), his father Brice J. Hallows, and his siblings Paula, Tim, Rick, Terren, Jann, Heather, and Angie.
