Mark Anthony Pozzuoli's Obituary
Mark Anthony Pozzuoli, beloved husband, father, papa, teacher, coach, and mentor, passed away on July 2, 2026, in Farmington, Utah. He was born on February 17, 1967, in Denver, Colorado, and spent his life lifting others through education, athletics, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Mark graduated from Viewmont High School in 1985, where he excelled as an athlete. He served as captain of the Viewmont football team, playing linebacker and fullback, and was an outstanding wrestler. Mark also loved being in Madrigals; he made long lasting friendships that supported him through the end.
After high school, Mark attended Weber State University, earning his Masters degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in Coaching. His love for teaching and athletics shaped the course of his life and became the foundation of his career.
For 23 years, Mark taught science in the Davis County School District at Kaysville Junior High, where he inspired countless students with his enthusiasm for the sciences and his genuine care for their success. His influence extended far beyond the classroom. Mark coached wrestling at both Kaysville Junior High and Davis High School for many years, helping young men develop not only skill and strength but character, confidence, and resilience. He also served as an assistant football coach at Davis High School and Layton High School, forming lifelong bonds with players, fellow coaches, and families throughout the community.
Mark’s impact on the youth of his community is immeasurable. He had a gift for seeing potential in others and encouraging them to rise to it. His athletes remember him not only for the victories and hard practices, but for the lessons he taught—about integrity, perseverance, teamwork, and becoming the best version of oneself.
Mark loved spending time with his family more than anything. He cherished their trips to Disneyland and Oregon. He enjoyed meeting up with his high school friends and was a lifelong fan of the Utah Utes, Chicago Cubs, Washington Commanders (Redskins) and found a love for the Green Bay Packers with his son-in-law.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Pozzuoli of Farmington, Utah; his daughters Victoria Bean (Adam) of South Jordan, Utah, and Alexa Pozzuoli of Farmington, Utah; and his three cherished grandchildren, Henry, Amelia, and Eleanor. He is also survived by his cousin Chris Bauco (Angie) of Kaysville, his mother‑in‑law, Gay Carter of Kaysville, his brother Louis Pozzuoli (Donna) of West Bountiful, He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Marguerite Pozzuoli.
Mark was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2024. He fought valiantly, maintaining a positive attitude and making every effort to overcome the disease. He held onto hope as his tumors shrank for a time, and he faced each challenge with grace and courage, never complaining.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stinnett, nurse Tina and nurse Liz at the Utah Cancer Specialists, and his hospice nurse Julie who cared for him. They also extend their appreciation to the Kaysville Junior High community for their unwavering love and support. They would like to recognize Kelly, Karen, and Mark Pendleton for always going the extra mile to support him during this difficult time.
Kathy is deeply grateful to her daughters, brother, sister, and mother for their daily visits, as well as to her cousins and friends—too many to name—whose love and support sustained her throughout this journey.
Mark volunteered at Hope Box Theatre for many years, never imagining he would one day be a recipient of their generosity. The night he was honored as a “Hope Hero” was a profound and unforgettable experience for his family. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to this remarkable organization.
