Marlin Jay Metzgar's Obituary
Marlin “Marty” Jay Metzgar, 79, passed away on the morning of August 4, 2020 in Lehi, Utah as a result of a degenerative brain disease, Progressive SupraNuclear Palsy. He was born in West Hollywood, California to Victor and Ruth Stearman Metzgar on April 16, 1941. He attended Birmingham High School in Van Nuys and was on the football team. He attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. While at USC, he was an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity where he made lifelong friends. After graduation, he eventually pursued a career in real estate syndication. He had three children, Jeni, Lindsay and Greg. Marty enjoyed pursuing his hobbies, including classic cars, Stearman bi-planes, and sailing off the Southern California coast. He lived in Lehi, Utah for the last three years until the time of his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Victor, and his nephew Curt. He is survived by his children Jeni (Chris), Lindsay, Greg (Joy) and ten grandchildren, Morgan (17), Taylor (15), Riley (14), Hailey (13), Carter (12), Caden (10), Landon (10), Carson (8), Emily (7) and Reese (5).
A private memorial service will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Lehi Cemetery at 10:00am. Directed by Premier Funeral Services. The family wishes to thank the staff at Harmony Hills Assisted Living and Encompass Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care they provided him, as well as the staff at Utah Case Management for helping coordinate his care.
