Martha Elizabeth Reed's Obituary
Martha Elizabeth Reed, affectionately known as Mardi, passed away on July 17, 2024, in West Jordan, Utah, at the age of 71. Born on November 23, 1952, in Hartford City, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Judith McPhee and a cherished member of the Amos family. She married Brett Reed, later divorced.
Mardi graduated from the Albuquerque Job Corps for Women and went on to earn her certificate in Nurse Aid. She dedicated many years of service to Pioneer Valley Hospital, where she was recognized for her notable contributions to the healthcare community. Mardi was not only a committed healthcare assistant but also a beacon of kindness and care to all who knew her.
She was a spiritual member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she participated in various community and church activities. Mardi's faith was a blessing in her life, providing her with strength and comfort.
Mardi's generosity knew no bounds; she was always crafting gifts for those less fortunate, embodying the virtues of love, care, and thoughtfulness. She treasured her animal companions, they brought her joy. Her hobbies included beading, crochet, quilting, and sewing, particularly sewing clothing for her cherished doll collection. These activities were a testament to her creative spirit and gentle heart.
Mardi is survived by her brothers, Mark Amos (Nicki) and Carl Amos Jr., sister, Melissa Ford, and her father Carl R. Amos. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and several close friends who she considered family, including Lisa Grider, Larry Becvar, and the Whittle family, who she cherished. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith McPhee, and her brother, John Amos.
A celebration of Mardi's life will be held on Friday, August 2, from 5-8 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 8181 W Breeze Dr. (3320 S). The Premier Funeral Home in Midvale, Utah, is assisting the family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mardi's memory may be made to the Primary Children's Hospital, or humanitarian charity, honoring her lifelong commitment to helping others.
