Marvin Harold Johnson's Obituary
Marvin Harold Johnson passed away on March 14, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. He was 92 years old.
Born in Marshall, Minnesota on December 14, 1932, Marvin was a devoted husband to his wife of 70 years, Marilyn Nelson. He was a loving father to children Linda Larsen, Renae Johnson, Becky Luna, Stephen Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Amy Roderick, Laura Alger, Nicole Johnson, and Sarah Johnson. He was also a grandfather of 29, great-grandfather of 56, and great-great-grandfather of 3. Marvin was loved and adored not only by his extensive family, but also by many dear friends.
Marvin joined the Air Force after graduating from high school where he served as an aircraft mechanic from 1950-1954 and received a National Defense Service Medal. His extensive career included manufacturing and aerospace engineering, project management, welding, robotics, and even teaching 6th grade math for a time. Educational achievements included an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a BA degree in Education, and an MBA degree with high honors.
A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Marvin’s enthusiasm and dedication to his faith was exemplary. He and his beloved wife served a mission together from 2001-2003 in Bay City, Texas.
Marvin’s hobbies included fishing, restoring cars, listening to classical music, hiking (with the Grand Canyon hikes being his favorite), and was a huge history buff. He was a master at woodworking and loved working in his shop and creating beautiful pieces of furniture and gifts for family and friends. Reading was his favorite past-time, and he treasured his book library.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel at 1600 North 1880 West, Provo, Utah, on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
A graveside service will be Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10 AM, Utah Veterans Memorial Park
