Mary Elizabeth Allen Patterson's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Allen Patterson
1932 – 2017
Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on April 6, 2017. She was surrounded by family as she slipped away.
Our mother was born on June 16, 1932 to Mary and Melburn Allen. She married David “Ducky” Richard Patterson on August 26, 1949. They were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1963.
Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint where she served faithfully in many callings. She especially loved the Primary children. Mom also served for many years as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. She learned so much serving in this capacity and loved serving her Father in Heaven. Mom was an excellent cook and she was able to share that talent with the students at Indian Hills Middle School, working as a “lunch lady”. She loved working in her yard and everyone enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens. We will miss her Sunday desserts, especially the brownies and banana bread.
Mary is survived by her children: David (Kathy) Patterson, Loren (Lisa) Patterson, Denise (Dave) Lasater, Debra (Cory) Wells, Vicky (Mark) Williams; 18 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra (Doug) Williams, and brothers, Don (Jean) Allen and Gary (Linda) Allen. Preceded in death by her husband David “Ducky”, parents, and brother, Kenneth.
The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to the staff at Riverway Assisted Living Center, who so lovingly and professionally attended to our mother during her last days. Especially grateful for Monique and Kurtis who so tenderly helped us each step of the way.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10th, 11:00 am at the Mt. Jordan 4th Ward, 235 East 9800 South, Sandy, with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 – 10:45 am. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy.
