Mary Elizabeth Hicks' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Hicks (Mary Beth), 76, passed away in Ogden, UT on August 16, 2025 with her family by her side.
Mary Beth was born on April 6, 1949 at Ft. Clayton (US Army Base) in the Panama Canal Zone to Harold and Ruth Hicks. Throughout her childhood she lived in Panama, Germany, New Mexico, and Utah. Her family settled in Utah when her father retired from the US Army in 1963. Mary Beth attended Bountiful High School and graduated in 1967. She then went on to get a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from Weber State College in 1971.
Mary Beth moved to Southern California after graduating from Weber State College. There she met and married Robert Bojorquez on April 27, 1975. Together they had three children.
Mary Beth loved her family, she was supportive, nurturing and selfless. She worked hard to raise her three children and taught them the importance of working hard to achieve their goals. She loved her children, but if you asked her, the most important role in her life was being a grandma.
Mary Beth had a long successful career as an administrative assistant at Occidental Petroleum and the University of Southern California. She retired from USC in 2018. After retirement Mary Beth moved back to Ogden, Utah to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren. One of her favorite things early in her retirement was working as an aide at Washington Terrace Elementary. She loved the opportunity to give back to children!
Mary Beth is survived by her children; her daughter, Belen (Jeramie) Pulsipher; her son, Dennis (Crystal) Bojorquez; and her daughter, Amanda (Paul) Simonetti; and her beautiful grandchildren, Kaylyn, Bentlee, Walker, Kayla, Desi, and Lyla. Mary Beth is also survived by her sister, Linda (Glenn) Thomas; her niece Kristen (Vinny) Certonio; nephews, David (Megan) Hicks, and Charlie Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Ruth Hicks, her brother, Dennis Hicks, and her ex-husband Robert Bojorquez.
A celebration of life will be held for Mary Beth on June 5, 2026 in St. George, Utah. She will be laid to rest in the St. George cemetery with her parents and brother. More information to follow next spring about the celebration of life.
Mary Beth will be remembered for her quiet strength, kindness, and nurturing spirit. She will be missed, but her family is grateful she is at peace and has been reunited with loved ones that have gone before her.
