Mary Lee Best Richards' Obituary
Mary Lee Best Richards returned home to her Father in Heaven on March 27, 2024, after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Although our hearts are filled with sorrow at her passing, we are forever grateful to have had her in our lives and are comforted by knowing we will see her again.
Mary Lee was born on March 8, 1943 in Coleville, Utah to Stanley and Nevada Best. She was the youngest of six children. She married Charles Richards in the Salt Lake Temple on September 24, 1965 and enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. Mary Lee and Charles made their home in Roy where they were blessed with six incredible children.
Mary Lee loved music, reading, art, being out in nature, gardening, and traveling. She has instilled these same loves in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite places was Moosehorn campground in the Unitas, where she loved spending time camping and fishing with her family. Mary Lee loved being a part of the Temple Riders Association and the Goldwing Road Riders motorcycle group where she and her husband rode with these friends for 25 years.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in a variety of callings. She loved being with the young children and the youth. She and her husband served three missions together. The first at Martin’s Cove, the second at Heber Girls Camp, and for the third mission, they were called to serve in the Monte Vista Ward for 3 years, but ended up serving for 6 years before going back to their home ward.
Her family was her pride and joy. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them. She is survived by her husband Charles, her 6 children, Melissa (Matt), Michele (Troy), Adam (Cathy), Mary (Ryan), Martha (Shad), John (Emily), 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Loralie (Jerald) and her brother Michael (Jean).
