Mary Sue Taylor Witzel's Obituary
Mary Sue Taylor Witzel, 78, of North Salt Lake, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning of June 2, after a struggle brought on by recent strokes. She endured many health challenges, especially late in life. Her example of Strength and Courage will long be remembered.
Mary was born in Taft, California, on July 17th, 1943 to Dan and Thelma Taylor, the 4th of 5 children. She grew up in Kermit, Texas and her family then moved to Mapleton, Utah where she attended nearby Springville High School (Class of 1961). During her teen years she enjoyed writing music for both children and adults, playing the guitar and writing short stories. She also wrote many skits for church road shows and loved spending time with and being involved in young adult activities. Later she worked as a dispatcher for Comcast Cable and was a Librarian at Alta High School.
Mary is survived by her husband John Witzel III and her 1st husband Dr. Richard G Nielson and their five children. Marcy Bozung, Stephanie Fritzsching, JaNene Nielson, Rick Nielson and Loren Nielson. She had 9 beautiful grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also survived by her siblings, Melvin Taylor, Mike J. Taylor and Martha Jane and preceded in death by her oldest brother Dan Taylor and grandson Jordan VanRoosendaal. She was loved by her family to the very end and all through her life instilled strong values to them. She had a strong testimony of her faith as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and will be dearly missed. All who knew her loved her!
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the following location:
The LDS Chapel
200 S Eagle Ridge Dr.
North Salt Lake, UT
Viewing from 10 AM – 12 Noon. Immediately followed by a Memorial Service.
Mary will be interred at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, UT.
