I will never forget that Matt rescued my daughter in a massive rainstorm where he drove his truck down a sidewalk to pick her up. She hadn't even known him that long but they had become friends over taking care of stray cats in a park. Since my daughter is 550 mi away from my house I felt she was safer knowing Matt and Susan. I had since met him and hung out with him and Susan and discovered they were some of the nicest people that I've ever met. They were both directly responsible for my daughter having two cats now, which also brings her comfort being so far from home. For the short time we've known Matt he had a big impact our families lives. I'm going to miss him and not being able to spend more time with him.

So many memories..Matt was my closest uncle, maybe because him and my mom were so close in age(the youngest siblings).Remember him taking me and my brothers fishing alot in Long Beach CA at a young age.Remember him taking me golfing for the first time.Remember riding in the back of his truck on the freeway ha.So many memories..uncle Matt you will be greatly missed.Thank you for everything you've done for me n my family and the family.i love you
Many memories of Matt. His lugging the pallets for the cat shelters, retrieving shelters and feeding tubs that went over the cliff. The time he found a baby duck tangled in fishing line. We warmed him up and reunited him with his family. Recently when I trapped three feral kittens and took them to Susan and Matt’s house. Was wondering if Matt would be annoyed…they already had two of the siblings trapped earlier. He wasn’t at all..he was so excited and I’ll never forget his “They are sooooooo cute”. I will miss texting Susan…”tell Matt I just saw the fish (planting) truck.” He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by humans and animals alike.
Susan. I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you know how much you are loved. Sincerely, Elena and Doug Shaw.
