I always enjoyed talking with Matt and working together.
A funny memory from that time was when we were working on the final build of a snowboarding game. The art assets were final, nothing new would be added. Matt was optimizing memory to fit only those specific assets.
A manager proposed an unplanned, zero-hour addition of content to the already the finalized assets. It would have fouled everything up.
When the manager asked Matt if the change could be made, Matt just said, “Why?”
He was calm, but his tone had a little “Are you kidding me?” energy.
I’ve thought about that moment often. He distilled a whole rebuttal and stood up for himself with that one word. The change was abandoned.
Thanks, Matt for being a cool person. I’m glad our paths crossed and I’m better for it.
