Douglas Carter lit a candle in memory of Matthew Luke

I remember back when Matt was just a little kid when he just wanted to be around his older brother and he would try to do anything to impress JD. He would get on his BMX bike and he was jumping and doing tricks that most of the older kids wouldn't even attempt and he would do them with ease and even way back then he was one if the most humble kids around and some things never change cause he grew up to be one of the most humble guys I've ever met!!! Matt you are going to be missed everyday, try and save me a spot anywhere near you, rest in peace brother we'll see you soon!!!

We were either in high school or right after, but there was a fire burning up in the hills by Alpine. Me and Matt went up at night time in my red ford ranger and parked close by to watched the fire burn while eating sunflower seeds.
This was one of the nights Bon Jovi started playing on the radio and Matt looked over at me and said "sounds like Bon Jovi". This is when it became an official quote. It wasn’t just what he said that we both remember. It’s how he said it. It was a happy surprise is how I’d explain it. Throughout the last 20-25 years every time Bon Jovi comes on I instinctively say “sounds like Bon Jovi” the way he did.
In memory of Matt play some Bon Jovi.
Love ya Matt!
Soo many good memories hanging out with my buddy Matt after meeting him & JD in Maui. Lots of late nights hunting rabbits out west and talking about life! Our goose hunting trip to Omaha, and our fishing trip to Alaska where we just drove our little boat around exploring rather than fishing. Matty was always there to help if I ever needed a hand or give me some electrical advice when I was building my houses. Godspeed my brotha on your next adventure!
Me and Matt have been best friends For about the last 15 years . More like bothers really . i have so many memories of Matt i could write a book just about him . And what a great man he was . I have seen him do so many kinds things for other people with nothing in return . He had the biggest Heart out of anyone i have ever met . If you were lucky enough to be his friend He would give you the shirt off his back . And countless times he would just pull over if someone was stranded . I have seen him save more than 1 life right in front of my eyes . He always ran towards danger never away from it . One Thing we talked about a lot was Death and life . And How it all works . Matt was such a spiritual guy . You would never know With a chew in and smoking a cigarette he would defend God and Jesus christ in all accounts. He Was so smart and knew his facts when he told you something was real he had such conviction that you couldn’t help but believe him . I have spent so many hours crying with Matt about sad things about happy things . He had the most amazing spirit about him if he would ever really let you see it . He was also the most stubborn person i have ever met . Matt wanted to do everything on his terms always . And that made him a fighter he never gave up because he would always figure out a way to get the job or project done is all aspects of his life . He has taught me so much . All the Electrical i know is from Matt . And my entire life really has been based around his advice . I looked up to him like no one i have ever before . He knew how to give the best advice and always right when you needed to hear what he had to say . He was always So in tune . He has made me into the man i am today . Matt could talk to anyone anytime and always make a new friend he related to people like i have never seen . He loved history and finding out the truth about things . Everything he did he went all in . I loved that about him . he rarely got scared about anything and was always down to be the first thing to try the most dangerous things . He Has such great morals And would always do the right thing for the right reason even when no one was looking . I could go on for days about his qualities they are endless . And the memories me and him have had . I am heartbroken our time was cut short . But i know for a fact I will see him again . And Hug him and tell him how much i love him and i am so grateful for his friendship in my life And for always being there for me when i needed it the most . But until then i will think of him daily and keep his words and spirit with me constantly. Matt i love you brother until we meet again 💙

Hey Matt,
It's Nate here, you taught me to live, live and love. You also taught me that you can only take your morals with you when you go. You forgot to take one thing with you. See you on the other side brother.
