Maureen Madsen Johnson's Obituary
Maureen Madsen Johnson passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Theron Kyle and Thelma Pearl Madsen on July 16, 1940, in Spring City, UT.
Maureen was born and raised in Spring City, Utah where she attended Spring City elementary and middle school. She graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1958. She continued her education at Hollywood Beauty College earing her cosmetology license in 1959. She met the love of her life, Marion “Mick” Karl Johnson, on a blind date on New Year’s Eve 1956. They were married September 23, 1960, in the Manti LDS Temple. They had just celebrated their 63rd year together when she lost him on November 11, 2023. They were blessed with six children, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren and one great grand stuffie.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the gospel. She served in many callings throughout her life including, Primary Presidency, Relief Society Presidency, Stake Nursery Leader, Scouts, Young Women’s, Activity Days and many more. She also had the opportunity of serving an LDS mission with her eternal companion in the Missouri Independence mission.
Maureen was known for her many talents and the love she poured into everything she did. She was an amazing cook, homemaker, gardener, and crafter. Whether she was canning fresh produce, sewing, painting, or creating something by hand, her creativity and dedication shone through. She was kind, generous, loving, and full of empathy. She found joy in serving others and had a playful, silly nature that brought smiles to those around her. She loved sharing memories, family stories, and conversations that brought people together.
Her four daughters were not only her children but also her best friends. She treasured the special bond they shared and loved spending time with them, whether it was going out to lunch with them and the granddaughters, shopping together, or simply enjoying one another’s company. These moments brought her great happiness and created memories that her daughters and granddaughters will cherish forever. She loved gardening, sweet treats, reading, and could put together a mean puzzle. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. Her warmth, compassion, and countless talents touched many lives and created lasting memories that will be remembered for years to come.
She is survived by her five children: Brent (Lynn) Johnson, Tamara (David) Rencher, Cheree Johnson, Kim Covington, and Megan (Jaron) Stout; seven grandchildren: Justin, Brandon, Halley (Bronson), Sariah, McKay, Kierra, and Kalle; and three step-grandchildren: Steve (Kris), Shawn (Rick), Stacey (Tammy).
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Craig Victor Johnson; her son-in-law, Kay H. Covington; her parents; her brothers, Bruce, Gordon, and Donnell Madsen; her sister, Gaye Lynn Miller; sisters-in-law, Connie Bahr, Sally Gray, Dawna Madsen, and Patty Madsen; and brothers-in-law, Phil Miller, Ramon Gray, and Alan Bahr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Lindon West Stake LDS Church, 250 W 600 S Lindon, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am the morning of the funeral. Maureen will be interred at the Lindon City, UT Cemetery.
