Maureen June Wood's Obituary
Our mother, grandmother and sister, Maureen June Morris Wood passed away July 13, 2022 in Murray, Utah.
Mom was born October 3, 1943 to Raymond Dale Morris and June Sophia Rosengren in Salt Lake City. Mom was the 3rd of 10 children. She grew up in South Salt Lake then moved to West Valley where she met the love of her life, Leonard Wood. The night she met him she knew they would get married, but still told him no when he first asked her out. Luckily, she later said yes and they were married October 9, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
They moved to South Salt Lake where they started their family. Six years and 4 children later they moved to their longtime home in Taylorsville. While in Taylorsville they had 8 more children.
Mom was especially proud of all her kids and tried to give them all the opportunities she could. She drove them to early morning practices and attended countless sporting events, choir, dance, drill team and cheerleading performances.
Mom was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but loved the ones that involved camping the most.
Mom was a loving grandma to 34 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She took pleasure playing and visiting with her beloved grandchildren.
Maureen is survived by her children, Lisa and Mark Jensen, Samantha and Brian Bennett, Matthew and Cyndie Wood, Nancy and Vince Rose, Becky and Warren Hutchison, David and Paula Wood, Tyler and Jedydyah Wood, Tiffany Wood, Todd and Hilary Wood, SaraLyn and Kevin Greenwood, Timothy and MyLyn Wood, and Ellen and Tyler Pitts. Her siblings Margaret (Ray) Morris, Kathy (Lynn) Balmforth, Robert (Jeanie) Morris, Steve and Leanna Morris, Keith and Jayne Morris, Randy and Shelly Morris, Pam and Gary Rasmussen, Jim and Anita Morris, Bill and Taunya Morris. Her sisters-in-law Zelda (Ronald) Black, Verna and Johnny Angel, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, brother Ray, brother-in-law Lynn and sister-in-law Jeanie, brother and sister-in-law LaVell Wood and Fay Barraclough, brother-in-law Ronald Black. Also preceded in death by her beloved eternal mate Leonard. Mom was the prettiest woman he'd ever met and we all knew he loved her. We can't imagine anything has changed now.
